After the procedure
Recovery from a tummy tuck typically involves several stages:
Immediate Post-op: After the procedure, patients are closely monitored in a recovery area. Some discomfort, swelling, and bruising are normal. Pain medication and compression garments may be prescribed to aid in recovery.
Hospital Stay: Depending on the complexity of the surgery, some patients may need to stay in the hospital for a short period. Most, however, can return home the same day.
Recovery at Home: Patients should follow post-operative instructions diligently, which may include avoiding strenuous activities, wearing compression garments, and taking prescribed medications. Swelling and bruising will gradually subside over several weeks.
Long-term Results: Over time, the final results of a tummy tuck become more apparent as swelling continues to diminish. Scars will fade and flatten but may take several months to a year to fully mature
Lifestyle Changes: Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and a balanced diet, is crucial to preserving the results of a tummy tuck.
